I have seen a lot of talk about Walmart's $4.00 generic
prescription deals. Meier is offering FREE generic antibiotics
at their stores. They are all over the Chicago land area but I
am not sure what other states they are located. Here is the
link to the website:
The program covers leading, oral generic antibiotics with a
special focus on the prescriptions most often filled for children.
The following are FREE with your doctor's prescription,
regardless of insurance or co-pay:
Amoxicillin
Cephalexin
SMZ-TMP
Ciprofloxacin
Ampicillin
Penicillin VK
Erythromycin
I just wanted to pass this along because every little bit of
savings helps!

Grandpa Terry's Tip of the Week
The Budget Ledger
How do you keep track of when your bills are paid?
If you don't pay your bills on time you could be subject to
late fees. Currently, many credit card companies and others
charge upwards of $39 for each late payment. In my community
the electric coop charges 10% late fees if the bill is not paid
by the 10th of the month.
In addition, if your credit card payments are late the company
will raise your interest rate. Depending on your current
balance this could cost you hundreds of dollars a year in
interest charges.
Budget Stretcher's Budget Ledger can help you avoid these
problems and ensure that your bills are paid on time every
month.
The Budget Ledger is simply a form where you can list your
bills in the order that they are due. There is space to list
the company name, date due and the amount you have budgeted
for that bill.
It's important to remember to pay these bills about 7 days
before the due date in order to ensure that they are posted
on time.
The printable Budget Ledger is part of your budget organizer
that is available with your subscription to this newsletter.
You can find it by visiting the below link:

Ledger you can order it at the below page:

Grandpa Terry's Email
Thanks, Grandpa Terry, for sharing the story about your computer
dust. It's reassuring to me when I hear others share that we are
all susceptible to our humanness. It takes someone with a
healthy dose of self-confidence to publish it!

Terry,
To comment on the lady who is so against timeshares, my husband
and I bought into a timeshare in Florida way back in 1986. At
the time, finances were tight, but we made payments for about
seven years and finally got it paid for. After owning a week of
timesharing for twenty years, we have been able to take some
wonderful vacations, and even give our weeks to our children for
their honeymoons to the Bahamas and Hawaii. We love it and
wouldn't give it up for anything. There is a maintenance fee
every year of about $600, but when we can go to Hawaii and pay
an exchange fee of $129 and stay in a beautiful resort for a
full week, we'll gladly pay the $600. We get a unit that sleeps
6 people, and when we go with other couples, they help cover the
cost, so that helps cut on the vacation expense, too. While just
like everything else, you have to be wise about your investment,
timesharing can be a wonderful way to vacation. When you have a
kitchen, living room, bedroom and most often even a washer and
dryer in the unit, you can save money on eating out by eating
in, and save your sanity by not having to just sit on the bed in
a tiny hotel room.

Editor's Note: This is in reference to my advice to Indigoblu
in last week's newsletter.
Grandpa Terry,
I think you may have goofed here. Speaking from having a child
on SSI. The government gives you XXX amount of time to spend the
back pay. If you don't spend it they can ask for it back.
Also any savings you and your child have will be considered
'income' and will affect your monthly check.
SSI is a wonderful help but you must dance to their tune.

8th, 2007 edition, sorry I'm behind a little. Here's a neat
little site that will calculate your paycheck for you
paycheck a couple of times and it was right on the money.

Another Rx tip -
I watch for those "free gift card" with new or
transferred Rx.... I found out that the big chains will accept
them even if they do not match prices on other items, the
pharmacy has its own rules. I called several and asked if
they accepted and if they did I went to the closest one. I
then use those gift cards with ads, sales, emergency, etc so it
helps me out if I'm running short!

Subscriber Tip
A while back I had the unfortunate opportunity to be in need of
legal council. I managed to scrap up the retainer fee for what
was thought of as a open and shot case, I was filing for custody
of my son, after the abandonment of him and myself from my wife.
I was very unhappy with the services from the hired lawyer. It
was suggested to me to call the local Bar Association to make a
report, while doing so, I was told about a program that either
supplies a lawyer probono, or on a sliding scale basis ( I am
disabled and receive SS DI), and this happens to be the
oppositions main case, my disability. This was a good way for me
to obtain representation, within my means.

Everyday Savings
These Tips provided by The Frugal Shopper
Please show your appreciation for these great tips by visiting
this site.
~~Disposing of grease and fat from foods.
I save the jars and lids that I get whenever
I purchase tomato sauce and mayonnaise.
When I have bacon drippings or old oil from
fried foods, I pour the fat into these jars.
When the jar gets full, I put the top back
on and put the jar in the trash. This will
prevent your drains from being clogged with
this oil and keep your trash cans from
getting messy inside.
~~Save plastic milk containers, fill with
water and freeze. Use in camper iceboxes or
coolers. Also these can be used to freeze
colored water or juices in for later use in
a punch bowl.
~~To avoid tears when peeling onions, slice
first, then slip the bands of skin off.
~~Use an egg slicer to slice apples or mushrooms.
~~Leftover pancake batter makes good fried
onion rings. Separate and let soak in batter
for fifteen minutes. Fry in hot oil.
