    Subscriber Tip #1

When my counters became very unsightly and unsanitary from all
the nicks and crackers I came up with a cheap fix. These were
old counter tops that had the metal edging . I removed the
edging carefully and laid apiece of vinyl floor covering over
it. I purchased this at a discount type store for $10.00. I cut
to fit and used a heavy floor glue to adhere it. smooth out and
replace the edging. The choices are unlimited as to style and
color.. Hope this helps someone doing some DIY project on a
    shoestring.

    Grandpa Terry's Update

    Welcome to The Budget Stretcher!

I've heard from so many of my subscribers that say they tell
their friends and family about Budget Stretcher.  I certainly
appreciate that.  Now, I'm going to make it easy for you to
recommend the Budget Stretcher home page.

Finally, after searching for 5 years I have found a Tell-A-Friend
setup that doesn't capture your information and blast you with
spam.  You simply fill in your name and email address and the
email addresses of your friends and hit the Submit button.  You
can even get a copy sent to yourself.

I have a challenge for you.  In the past, my home page has
received as many as 600 visitors in a single day.  The average
is between 250 and 300.  I would like to break this record and
get at least 1000 hits to my home page in a day.  You can make
this happen by referring everyone you know using the form.
Please do not send these referrals to anyone that may consider
    them spam.

Now, if you will add my email address ( tre2000@midwest.net ) as
one of your friends I will give you one of the below gifts by
sending you the link for the download page.  There is a space
to send a note to your friends.  You can use that to let me
know which gift you would like:

    Good Money Advice

One thing I've noticed since I developed Budget Stretcher is
that most people actually know what needs to be done to improve
their financial situation. Over half the email I receive asking
for help includes the solutions to their problem right in the
    email.

Another example of this is to see what is said on forums when
discussing fixing a money problem. Some of the people that are
the deepest in debt give the best advice to others.

So why don't they just take their own advice and fix their
problems? Because that's when it becomes personal. That's also
when they realize that it is their lifestyle that will require
    changing.

Believe it or not, a shortage of money rarely creates a money
problem. You may not have the money to live the lifestyle you
would like, but, in most cases, you have the money to live on
and pay your bills on time.

I think what most people are looking for when they seek help is
encouragement and possibly an easier way to accomplish the task
without disrupting the lifestyle they are comfortable with.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this but at some point
they must realize that things can't stay the same. It may be
hard, but changes will need to be made if they are actually
committed to solving their money problem.

The main point to this tip is that knowing what you need to do
to fix your finances is a very small part of actually getting it
done. Almost anyone can tell you how to do it.

The hard part can only be done by you.

I have not been able to figure out if it is better to have
plenty of credit cards or to cancel all but just a few. Sometime
people on you site say have plenty to keep your credit score up.
Others say that you can't get a loan if you have lots of credit
cards because if you use them (maybe max them out) they won't
    lend you money.

I have plenty of cards but, don't use them unless it is an
emergency , then I pay them off with the first statement that
    comes in.

Keep up the great work. I enjoy your site.

    My Response:

    Hi,

I wrote a tip about a month ago that explains why you should
never cancel a credit card unless there is a problem.  I also
have an ebook put out by FICO, the authority on credit scores.
Here is the link to download:

Here is the tip I wrote in January:

I never recommend cancelling credit cards and here's why:

Credit Scores are based heavily on your available credit on your
credit cards.  Here is an example:

    You have 5 credit cards

card 1:  Credit limit $5000, you owe $200
card 2:  Credit limit $2000, you owe $500
card 3:  Credit limit $2000, you owe $800
card 4:  Credit limit $7000, you owe $2500
card 5:  Credit limit $5000, you owe $4500

Your total credit limit is $21,000 and you owe $8500 giving you
    $12,500 in available credit.

If you pay off cards 1, 2 and 3 and cancel them your total credit
limit will be $12,000 and you owe $7,000 giving you $5,000 in
    available credit.

card 4:  Credit limit $7000, you owe $2500
card 5:  Credit limit $5000, you owe $4500

However, if you pay off the 3 cards and leave the accounts open
your available credit will be $14,000 giving you a better credit
score than you would have if you cancelled them.

card 1:  Credit limit $5000, you owe $0
card 2:  Credit limit $2000, you owe $0
card 3:  Credit limit $2000, you owe $0
card 4:  Credit limit $7000, you owe $2500
card 5:  Credit limit $5000, you owe $4500

If you pay an annual fee on any of the credit cards you would
have to weigh paying the fee against the increased credit limit
    in your decision to cancel.

I hope this helps and isn't too confusing,
    Grandpa Terry

Hi, saw your letter on the budget stretcher and there are
places you can go for help, but it's small and time consuming.
I've included some links as examples. There are many resources
for autism help, you just have to be persistent in your Internet
search. As to your daughter's back issues, there are resources
there too, as well as in home support to help with care, but
again, persistence. A lot of times, it's a matter of asking.
Hitting the various forums and just pounding the Internet. I
hope this will give you a bit

I stopped reading to write you immediately. Beware of
YouTube....it's filthy with contaminated files. I don't know
precisely how that could screw up your site....so my best advice
    - Make sure you have a full backup Pre-YouTube.....of all your
databases, etc. incl. the mailing lists. You don't need no virus
or worms doing the email spam thing again.

    Subscriber Tip #2

About once a week, I use my comb to clean the hair out of my
brush, then throw both into my washer with a load of clothes.
They always come out clean and oil free. I have never had any
problems with them ruining my clothes, but if you‘; re
worried about that, just wash them with a load of jeans or
    towels. Simple!

These Tips provided by The Frugal Shopper

Please show your appreciation for these great tips by visiting
    this site.

    1. To dry nail polish in a hurry, spray nails with PAM Oil
    Spray.

    2. Remove Planter's Warts with banana peels. Before bedtime
tape a banana peel inside to the skin, over the wart, and cover
with a bandage. Within a couple of days the wart will be gone.

    3. Olive oil can be added to bath water for a skin softener.

    4. Save money on services you need by receiving them from
students in training. Examples: Hairdresser, Dental, Massage.

    5. Make your own flexible ice packs. Pour 3/4 cup water and 1/4
cup rubbing alcohol into a zip-type plastic bag and close. Put
zipped bag into another bag, seal, and freeze. You will have a
slushy bag of ice whenever needed for sprains, headaches, or
    whatever.

    6. Ask your doctor for free samples. Pharmaceutical companies
flood doctors with samples of all kinds of expensive prescrip-
tions. If your doctor doesn't offer, ask.
