Subscriber Tip
Hi there,
A quick note, if somebody doesn't have an office program to
open your Budget Ledger in Excel, you can send them to
you can download a full office suit that opens any Microsoft
file and then some. It even looks a bit like Microsoft Office
and works the same. Best part about it is that it is FREE. And
that should fit any budget. There are lots more open source
programs linked from there.
Hope that helps some people..

When clipping your grocery coupons each week be sure to have a
good pair of scissors handy to make clipping easier. A dull pair
of scissors can really slow you down. Also, if you have children
keep a pair of school-size scissors in your coupon area so they
can help out. Having two pairs of hands clipping is always
better than one!

Grandpa Terry's Update
Welcome to The Budget Stretcher!
You only have a couple of more days to order the Bill Pay
Management System. The Special Offer Expires June 6, 2007. If
you haven't ordered your Bill Pay system yet, there's still time
to get it for only $3.95. Here is the link:
I'm hearing from more and more subscribers that are trying to
"Live on What's Left". Their bills are paid first and if there
is money left over, that's what they use to buy groceries, car
gas, etc.
This never works. In fact, it could be the primary reason you
are not able to work your way out of a bad situation.
If you don't have the money to cover your household expenses
you are probably going to rely on credit cards to make up the
difference. Household expenses are going to be there everyday
and there is little you can do the avoid them. The money has
to come from somewhere.
Yes, you can find ways to cut your household expenses but you
need to set this money aside every pay day as priority #1. The
bill collectors that you can't pay are going to start bugging
you but there are ways to handle that. At least you won't be
digging yourself further in debt just to buy food and other
necessities.
Setting priorities for the money you have is absolutely necessary
to avoid problems. If you are not sure of what the priorities
should be please read the article at the below link:
That's all for now. Remember, I really enjoy hearing from you
folks. If you have any comments, complaints, suggestions or just
want to say Hi, please send me an email to

Grandpa Terry's Tip of the Week
I'm going to turn the tip of the week over to a buddy of mine
that sent some great tips he found. Thanks Ken!
Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the
stove, set heat to medium low and heat till warm. This keeps the
crust crispy. No soggy microwave pizza.
Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a ziplock bag. Seal and mash until they
are all broken up. Add the remainder of the ingredients, then
reseal and keep mashing it up, mixing thoroughly. Cut the tip of
the baggy, squeeze the mixture into the egg white. Just throw
bag away when done for an easy clean up.
Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip
it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it its'
size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount.
You also eat less sugar/calories per serving.
Reheating Refrigerated Bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated,
place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased
moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
Newspaper Weeds Away
Start putting in your plants; work the nutrients in your soil.
Wet newspapers and place them in layers around the plants,
overlapping as you go. Then cover with mulch and forget about
weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic but they
will not get through wet newspapers.
Broken Glass
Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of
glass. The cotton fibers grab hold of the little pieces of glass
shards, the ones you can't even see!
No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes
away.
Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants
with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant
and the squirrels won't come near it.
Flexible Vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add
an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to the end of
your vacuum hose. The cardboard tube can be bent or flattened to
gee t into the narrow openings.
Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will
not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks
that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks
and static is gone.
Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it
with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup.
Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how
easily it comes right out.
Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in
the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the
eraser! Works better than a cloth!
Reopening an Envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include
something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer
for an hour or two. It will unseal easily.
Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot
cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth.
It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but
didn't like when you tried it in your hair.
Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it
1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid,
mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone
forever.
Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it,
take it home, but can't digest it, so it kills them. It may take
a week or so, especially if it rains. But it works and you don't
have the worry about pets or small children being harmed.
Take Baby Powder to the Beach
Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When your
ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the
powder and the sa nd will slide right off your skin.

Grandpa Terry's Email
Dear Grandpa Terry,
Wow! We just picked up our first order from Angel Food
Ministries yesterday and I was so impressed!! The food was not
old. The packaging not damaged and there were well known brands.
There was meat, convenience foods and even my sons favorite
break and bake chocolate chip cookies. Any one who eats should
make this a monthly routine!

For those who live in the U.S., check out the websites for your
local utility companies. For example, here where we live, we can
get a new refrigerator, exchange our energy hogging lamps, get 5
new energy efficient light bulbs as well as a variety of rebates
and savings from our electric company. Our gas company offers
free weather stripping, free attic insulation and free blanket
wraps of our hot water heaters, as well as a variety of rebate
programs for energy star appliance purchases. Many of these
programs are available through your utility, water and sewage
companies, some are income specific, and the wait list can be
quite long. But it's worth checking out. If you can't find the
information, give them a call and ask about energy saving
programs and rebates for residential customers. It's free, and
you can't say that very often about utility companies.

For the over 50 crowd...did you know that at all the Burger
Chains, you can order a "Senior" Coffee, Soda or tea (hot or
cold) for less than half the price! They do not advertise this,
you have to ask. Generally, these are medium sized drinks. I was
surprised when traveling in GA, that the Wendy's Senior Coffee
was FREE! Enjoy! :)

These Tips provided by The Frugal Shopper
Please show your appreciation for these great tips by visiting
this site.
~~To aid in washing dishes, add a tablespoon of
baking soda to your soapy water--it softens hands
while cutting through grease.
~~Save your store-bought-bread bags and ties--they
make perfect storage bags for homemade bread. (Don't
turn them inside out. The labels are painted on the
out sides of the bags with lead-based paint.)
~~If you have problem opening jars: Try using latex
dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that
makes opening jars easy.
