    Take Your Snacks

The kids are finishing the school year. You will likely be taking them with you for errands. Make some ice so you can pack your little cooler/cooler bag when you leave the house. (Water and sandwich,cheese,fruit-you know what you like on the run.) This isn't just for planned trips but errands too. How many times have you been thirsty and hungry and had to spend too much for water and snacks/food when you found yourself running late. It makes for more cooperative kids. My kids will eat things in the van they wouldn't at home when hungry enough ~ including the Cheerios from their baby brother. LOL. I keep bottled water/juice boxes and dry cereal/crackers in the van in a shoe box. Even warm is better than nothing. My little cooler bag fits in the fridge so I can just grab it and stuff is already cold. Enjoy your summer.

    Subscriber Tip #2
    8 Days a Week

If you normally grocery shop every week, try spending your normal budgeted amount for food, but try to last eight days until the next shopping trip. Shop and spend the budgeted amount for food and try to last until eight days instead of seven again. In two weeks, you have saved two days on food. In seven weeks, you should be able to save one whole week's grocery money. Using this tip, in a year, you should save over seven weeks of food budget! In my house, seven weeks at $80 per week will save me $560 per year.

    Gardens

It's time to set gardens again. One tip that I tell friends is to recycle used water or soda bottles by cutting off the bottom and using it as a funnel in the garden. As I set out my tomato plants (this is also good for other plants as well), I place a "funnel" in the hole too. When I need to water (we usually have a drought during summer), it goes directly to the roots. I use a lot less water, and I am not watering any weeds.

    Laundry Tips

    17. If instructions aren't printed on the washer lid, type, laminate, and hang them over the machine.

    18. Label or color-code bedroom baskets to prevent laundry room mixups.

    19. Pilling is caused by items rubbing against each other in the washer and dryer. Prevent it by turning susceptible clothes inside out and washing them in a mesh bag or a drawstring pillowcase.

    20. The difference between "Dry Clean" and "Dry Clean Only" is fragile fabric, but washable. Dry cleaning fluids are tough on fabrics, so whenever they can be avoided, the life of a garment is prolonged.

    21. Make your own Spray Starch - 2 tablespoons cornstarch + 1 pint cold water. Place in spray bottle and shake well before each use.

    Special Recipe
    Funnel Cake

This recipe is great to serve any time but especially for holiday weekends.

    1 cup sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg
    1 cup milk
    Vegetable oil

Mix dry ingredients. Add egg and milk. Stir until smooth. Pour oil into a skillet and heat to 375°. Holding finger over the end of a funnel, pour in 1/4 cup batter. Holding over the hot oil, remove finger and let drizzle over the hot oil. As batter flows, move funnel in a circle to form a spiral cake. Fry about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown, turning once. Remove from oil and drain. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, glaze, or nuts. Makes 6 cakes.

Would You Spend $500 To Solve Your Money Problems?

What if I told you that I had a secret way for you to pay your bills on time every month and eliminate your debt in less than one year no matter how much you owe, Guaranteed?

What if I also said that it works every time it's tried?

What if it didn't require that you take out a loan?

What if I told you that you qualify no matter how bad your credit is?

What if I told you that you could have a credit score of 750 in less than one year?

There is only one draw back. This secret would cost you $500 and you would only have 1 week to pay it or lose this opportunity.

One other little glitch. You can't borrow the money. You have to come up with the cash.

Think about it! Could you come up with the $500 to pay for this Secret? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you don't want to miss it. Where will the money come from?

If you haven't figured it out by now, there is no Secret way for you to solve your money problems for $500 or any other amount. If there was I would have sold it to you long ago.

The point of this tip is that all of the magic ways you see on the web, on TV, or in the newspaper that promise to solve your money problems instantly can't deliver on that promise.

Even if you qualify for a loan consolidation you are going to be paying for years. And, what's to say that you won't accumulate more debt on top of that loan.

Paying off your debt and paying your bills on time is a step-by-step process.

    Step 1. Identification

This is where you identify what your goals are for you and your family's future. It also includes discovering what problem areas you have with the way you are currently managing your money. Once you have this step conquered you are well on your way to understanding what to do next.

    Step 2. Organization

By accomplishing this step you will completely eliminate the confusion about how to manage your money.

    Step 3. Elimination

No matter what your current financial situation you would be better off if you didn't have your debt robbing you every month with interest charges and in some cases late fees and penalties. We would all like for someone to offer us an instant solution to our money problems, but it doesn't work like that. It takes time and discipline to get the job done. How much time is up to you.

If you get started right now you could realistically be out of debt in as little as 10 years if you include a mortgage, much less if you don't have a mortgage.

Take the time to use the resources offered by Budget Stretcher and other money management web sites that can make the task much easier.

The York Hospital, York, Pa will give a 10% discount if you pay in full by the due date. You need to call and pay over the phone, either by check or credit card. If you pay online, you do not get the discount. This information is not printed on their statement. I always put the amount due on my credit card which gives me an additional 20 or 30 days to pay and get another 1% back (I always pay the credit in card in full.)

    Grandpa Terry,

If you would like to know gas prices for anywhere in the United States, then this is the website to use. I got this link when gas prices soared to record highs last summer and hadn’t checked it in a while. I just got done checking gas prices not only in my city, but I also know what my family in California and in the Carolina’s are all paying for gas prices. All you do is type in a zip code and it gives you a map of all gas stations in that area, complete with addresses, average prices for that area, and the highest and the lowest gas prices for that area. Very informative.

P.S. As of today the cheapest gas prices in the United States are in Canton, OH where you can pay $2.15 per gallon. The highest prices are in Death Valley, CA where you will have to pay a whopping $4.23 per gallon. This may help some of your subscribers plan their summer vacations.

You can see that the link is a msn website, which not only means that it is a well known and trustworthy site, but also that you will gain a lot of information from this site. I can guarantee you will be amazed by this one.

Thank you for all the wonderful tips you have provided to me,

I hope my input proves to be useful for yourself and other subscribers,

    Penny Clabaugh

    Inexpensive Summer Kids Activities
    By Kathy Wilson

Every parent, whether they work at home or outside the home, needs inexpensive summer kids activities to keep the little ones busy. These days, saving money when vacations and camps are not in the budget can be a challenge. Here are some great summer kids activities to keep your munchkins occupied, that are low cost or even free!

Plan a bike ride where the kids map out the route you are going to take, plan and pack a picnic lunch and do maintenance on their bikes before the ride. Great fun and teaches them responsibility and planning skills.

Create an obstacle course in the backyard. Use everyday items such as chairs, lumber for balance beams, sprinklers to jump over, or chalk to draw courses on pavement or sidewalks. Older kids can take turns designing new obstacle courses. Invite the neighborhood kids!

Take a group of kids to a park or playground, and play water war! Provide inexpensive paint buckets full of water for each team, and each child an inexpensive squirt gun. Team members can only fill at their assigned water bucket. This is great if you have a park with lots of trees or obstacles to hide behind. Make sure you bring towels!

Have “Summer Christmas’. Have the kids plan a modified holiday meal, and have each one make a present for another member of the family. This can be done by drawing names to keep things fair. The rule is that the present must be completely hand made with things around the house. Have them share the presents at the holiday meal. Better yet, have the holiday meal on a blanket outdoors!

Give the kids some cardboard and some markers and have them create their own board game. Get them started by talking about common board games they are already familiar with and help them come up with a theme and a final objective. Once they perfect the game, they can make a more permanent version with paint and plywood. Who knows, it might become a family tradition that lasts for years!

Pick up a bucket of sidewalk chalk and let the kids design a whole city on the driveway. They can include everything from the town park to the gas station, and draw streets to follow through the town.

Have a movie marathon for those days when its too hot to be outdoors. Let every child pick a fav movie, set up the living room with plenty of pillows, and make sure there are lots of snacks! Make a big deal about setting up an “Intermission’ table with pretzels and dip, popcorn etc…and make sure to call an extra special intermission session for ice cream!

Inexpensive summer kids activities are not only easy on the budget, but inspire kids to get away from the video games and make some memories. With a little guidance from Mom or Dad, summer fun doesn´t have to cost a fortune, and its time we all remember what summer is for!
