If you are canning or peeling for any reason, apples, or pears,
Save the peels add a little water, cook them up and put them in
the blender. Use the resulting puree in place of the liquid
called for in making muffins. Very tasty moist muffins, with
just a little extra food value, and taste. ( don' t use the
stems or cores for this.)

Coupon Savings

Continuing with options for organizing grocery coupons, another
way to keep them in order is to file them by the value of the
coupon. For example, all $1.00 coupons would be put together and
all $.75 coupons would be put together and so on. Of course you
would also have a file for coupons that are MORE than a $1.00 as
well (since there are not as many of these they can all be put
together under this single category). This method might be best
for those that do not use a lot of coupons, but also is great
for making sure those valuable $1.00 or more coupons don't get
forgotten!

or without using coupons! Read more of Michelle's FREE

Grandpa Terry's Update
Welcome to this week's issue of our newsletter. I hope this
finds everyone doing well.
I've received several emails over the past couple of years that
said they like to read our newsletter early Sunday morning, some
of them even said they read it before the Sunday paper! What a
boost to my ego...
So, for you Sunday morning readers, please grab your cup of
coffee or whatever you drink in the morning and enjoy. I hope
this week's issue is a good one.
I owe so many of you an apology. For nearly 7 years I have been
able to answer every email that I received. That was a promise
that I have made to subscribers since January 2000 and I was
committed to keep it.
This fiasco last week with my web site going down changed all
of that. I hope this is just temporary. I received over 1200
emails of support and was touched by how many of you would take
the time to email me.
I now realize that I've got a huge list of great subscribers
and that there are going to be times when this one man operation
called Budget Stretcher is overwhelmed with responses to
something.
The real problem is that I'm sure there were questions in these
emails and maybe some requests for help. Since it's going to
take some time to go through each of them I may not be able to
answer you for several days or weeks.
If you sent an email that required a response please send it
again. The incoming email has slowed now so I should be able to
answer it fairly quickly.
And, Thank You all for your support!!
Another problem that was caused by last week's spam complaint
is that my email course "Beginner's Guide To Budgeting" is no
longer available. It was delivered by autoresponder and I lost
this service because of the complaint. It wasn't a penalty, but
just a precaution to prevent this from happening again.
I am looking for other ways to deliver this course because over
3000 subscribers have taken the course since January 2006 and it
seems to be very popular. I have considered the free or paid
services but they don't seem to be as reliable as they should
be. I'll keep you posted.
That's all for now. Remember, I really enjoy hearing from you
folks. If you have any comments, complaints, suggestions or just
want to say Hi, please send me an email to
If you know someone that may be interested in subscribing to
our newsletter just have them visit:
All the best,

Grandpa Terry's Tip of the Week
Changes to Budget Stretcher
I have some changes coming to Budget Stretcher within the next
few weeks that I wanted to pass along to you.
Before I start, I would like to tell you that my main concern
is to help all of the subscribers. This includes the free
newsletter and Budget Stretcher Premium subscribers.
I have redesigned my home page and will be putting it on the
internet by October 1st (hopefully). I believe it's easier to
navigate and helps everyone that visits find what they are
looking for quickly.
I will also be cutting the prices on all of my products so that
more people will be able to afford them. A good example of this
is that my ebook "Living Within Your Means - The Easy Way" which
I've been selling for $47.97 will cost $12.47 but will not
include the New Budget Organizer as a bonus. It however, can be
purchased separately for only $4.95.
I am also redesigning Budget Stretcher Premium (BSP) and adding
so many benefits for subscribing that I believe more people will
subscribe to this advertising free service. However, the cost
will go from $11.95 to $19.95 for the first year and from $5.95
to $9.95 to renew annually. When this is ready I will send you a
notice so that you can subscribe at the old price ($11.95)
before it goes up.
One of my main goals with the new BSP is to find as many
quality resources as I can so that you can save enough money to
pay for your subscription almost immediately and continue to
save year after year.
I have several other ideas to make Budget Stretcher a better
resource for you and will be notifying you as soon as they are
ready.
One thing I want to state clearly so that there are no
questions is that you are never obligated in anyway to buy
anything at Budget Stretcher. You subscribed to a free service
and that's exactly what I am giving you. For those of you that I
received email from that felt guilty about not being able to
"help" please don't. As I preach week after week, if you can't
afford something don't buy it. This goes for my stuff too!

Topic of Discussion
Dear Grandpa Terry,
I'm so glad that everything worked out okay and Budget
Stretchers is still around. I may not be able to afford any of
your stuff right now, but I enjoy the newsletter a lot. I wrote
to you some time back and you sent me to where I could order ,
but I just don't have it. Do you have any advice as to how I can
convince my husband that "overdraft protection" is only if a
mistake has been made in the checkbook? During July I counted 13
overdrafts @ $12 each. I opened an acct. back in April in only
my name to pay bills from, and he thought since I done that; he
could have CONTROL of the joint acct. He has adult A.D.D. and a
one track mind but I still love him. I guess I married him for
just his $$$$. HAHAHAHA I hope you have a blessed and wonderful
day.

Clanton, Al.
P.S. My daughter was invited to be part of the People to People
Student Ambassador Program for the forth time for the summer
2007. We will meet 9/10/06 with them and find out the total
cost. A deposit is already needed for that day. In 2004 it was
$400. Do you have any fundraising ideas? She is such a good kid,
and she has earned this invitation. We are challenging our
county and town for sponsorship by putting the story in our
local paper, and I pray it works out. Your suggestions are
welcomed.
My Response:
Hi Kimmie,
What I would do about your husband is to get the overdrafts
together and show him how much it cost you (I figure about $156
for the month?). You probably already know of something that he
wants. You could show him how much quicker he could get it if
you didn't have to pay the overdraft fees. I did this with my
daughter and her husband and it worked. It's worth a try.
There are several ideas in my July 31st issue of the newsletter
(Grandpa Terry's Email) that might help with the fundraising.
Here is the link:
I hope this helps,

Grandpa Terry,
I'd love to get an update on the cheerleading

things went!

Hi Terry, I have been subscribed to your list for a while now,
I really don't know how long it's been... but I was wondering
your opinion on Dave Ramsey. I went to a seminar a few weeks
ago, and have been listening to him on the radio every day. We
are starting one of his Financial Peace University courses this
evening. Do you know anyone who has followed his plan? Did it
work? Let me know, I am curious of your thoughts. Thanks!
Jacqui
My Response:
Hi Jacqui,
I've never had any direct contact with Dave Ramsey but I respect
his work based on my email conversations with a few subscribers
that have used his system. It did work for them.
I hope this helps,
Terry

Subscriber Tip
I have a tip you may find of interest. I recently lost my cell
phone. I wasn't so upset about the phone since I planned to
replace it soon anyway, but the SIM card containing some
irreplaceable business contact phone numbers would have been a
devastating loss. By the grace of God it was found and returned
to me, but I learned a valuable lesson. I wrote down all the
numbers on my SIM card and stored them in a safe place at home,
so that if the phone goes missing again one day the information
won't be lost with it. I hope this helps someone!

These Tips provided by The Frugal Shopper
~~ Store plastic wrap in refrigerator - it will prevent it
from sticking.
~~ A good trick when you go away on vacation is to place a
baggie with a few ice cubes in the freezer. If a power failure
occurs while you are gone and the food thaws and then refreezes
you will know about it when you get home.
~~ Use a powder puff to dust flour on rolling pins, pastry
boards and cookie sheets. Store puff in a margarine tub with a
small amount of flour for quick dusting jobs.
~~ Leftover Safety - If food has been contaminated with germs
from a person's mouth, it should be tossed. For instance saving
baby food when you have fed the baby from the jar is hazardous.
~~ You can reheat small portions of leftovers in the same pan.
Wrap individually in foil and place in enough water to cover the
bottom of the pan.
~~ When converting your favorite recipe for microwave cooking
reduce the liquid by one-fourth. Liquid does not evaporate in a
microwave as much as it does in a conventional oven.
